3G Graphics/Miller Printing has an immediate need for a Pre-Press Technician.
Summary of Responsibilities:
Performs graphic arts pre-press operations in the printing area. Meets customers’ specifications and time frames. Works with Graphic Designers, sales people and press operators to produce quality documents and forms used by customers. Works with some supervision and is responsible to make a range of decisions, escalates to Manager when appropriate and updates Manager on a regular basis.
Position Responsibilities:
• Reviews specifications for all jobs in the pre-press area before proofing and plating to assure customer’s expectations are met.
• Coordinates schedules with pre-press, press and digital areas for timely production of work.
• Prepares electronic files on Mac and Windows into high quality products produced on a variety of digital and offset printing presses.
• Compares press-ready proof with computer file to determine whether desired effect has been achieved.
• Operates equipment to produce proofs for customer approval. After approval of proofs, produces offset plates for reproduction of printed materials from offset printing presses.
• Maintains software on Mac and Windows computers.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Selection Criteria:
• Basic knowledge of offset printing functions.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when handling demanding situations.
• Proven experience coordinating multiple projects simultaneously and completing assigned tasks accurately and on a timely basis. Must demonstrate strong attention to detail and possess excellent organization skills.
• Demonstrated verbal communication skills with ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner and interpret instructions.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply changing technologies. Must cite examples.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management.
• Demonstrated mathematic abilities to perform standard graphic arts production procedures such as multiplying, dividing and reading a ruler, which involves decimals and fractions.
Educational Requirements:
• High school diploma/GED.
Computer skills and knowledge of hardware & software required:
• Working knowledge of word processing applications.
• Basic knowledge of software such as PageMaker, Quark, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Suitcase.
• Working knowledge of Macintosh and Windows computer system.
